How much was this really worth? FJ Helmet

I had spotted it on another auction site and asked to buy it when it was removed. The seller refused to let me do a buy it now option and then listed it with a buy it now option on eBay after I had been talking with them for a while. It sold for less than I would have offered and they even called to tell me it sold but never when it was listed. Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed. I've been after an FJ helmet for a long time and an affordable one popped up and was snatched from my grips by an incompetent seller. Anyway, just venting.

I'd like to buy one, but can't seem to get one under my thumb. What would $4,000 buy me? Or conversely, what would a no decal, complete helmet run on the FAIR MARKET, not necessarily what a dealer would ask.

I would say you should be able to find a nice ND late war M38 for $4k , but maybe not from a dealer.

What was the value on that one in its condition? It would have been a good filler until I could work up to a nicer one.

$1500 was the value for just a "shell" . I wouldn't have pay it.....
is better to wait and spare for a complete one at $4k-5k

This one may be worth a look?, however the bolts and chinstraps are not original (as is stated in description )...
