    M38 eagle for review

Hello. Shell incl. paint and eagle is supposed to be original (rivets and liner reproduction).

Can the originality of the eagle be confirmed?

Repainted bolts and replaced liner possibly.

        Decal looks good.

Hi Martin. Liner is definitely reproduction.

Maker is "ET" and the beaded inner brim of the helmet doesn't have the characteristic marking of the tool. I've never seen a para helmet without this notch.
Is that possible or clear evidence for a fake shell?

              Regards

It's ground dug shell with modern repaint inside / Alu ring and rubber should examine closer, perhaps here is original parts . Liner leather and chinstrap are modern .

                    Thanks, Sturm74.
What makes you think that this is a ground dug shell? Do others share Sturms opinion?

                    Btw., and the missing notch?

                    Regards

Not dug up necessarily, but certainly a recovered relic judging by the extensive surface pitting. Perhaps a cellar or barn find ?

Thanks, SMP. That sounds more likely to me.
I really would like to buy this shell but the missing notch from the helmet production tool causes me quite a headache. It's definitely not there.

                        Regards

The notch or groove is very deep on some helmets and very faint on others. I think it is there on this one, just very light. Your first photo in post #7 shows traces of it I believe. I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as being an original shell. I agree that the inside has been repainted and of course the fake liner and straps and bolts should keep the price pretty low on this one.

                          Cheers,
                          Terry
