Narvik question

Hi all
I went across some pictures wich reveal some special foot garment, I think not peculiar to Fallschirmjäger, but it seems those "white gaiters" were used in some massive way, here are some pictures, I also found here in the forum.
So the question is: what is that particular gaiter portraied in the pictures?

well I have found the answer, those "white gaiters" are just ....early model knee pads worn at the ankle, it seems.
Anyone of you agree with this?
