    Para item on E-Ban

Hello all. I do not usually visit this section of the forum since my interests are elsewhere. I did run across this item on ebay today and thought that I would see if any of you authorities in this field had any comments. Looks interesting to me, anyway. Here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...501960735&rd=1
The seller also has a SD FJ helmet, although it is a bit pricey I think. But then again, I am not into FJ stuff. Just thought some of my fellow members would like a look.
    Thanks,
    Brian Dentino

Both items are good. I know the seller. The bandoleers are not the best of shape but real. The helmet is very unique! and original!

          Leif -

is there another bandoleer going up for auction as well? Also, what can you tell us about the etchings?

          thanks!

I think that is his only bandoleer. The snaps are really rusty on it. I haven't seen it for a while but it would be OK as a starter piece.

He had the helmet over here one day and I tried to take photos. I don't think I have them anymore. They are really hard to photograph. They are legit. Some may say that it takes away from the helmet but I say it adds to it. There are plenty of SD FJ helmets out there. The 'scratches' just add history and a place to it for me. I don't really consider it 'war art' either. It was just a FJ or Allied vet that scratched towns on it. I remembered we tried to look up some of the towns or regions on it but to no avail. We really didn't have any good references and were going off of some maps in books. I trust it wholeheartedly.

Some might say it is pricey but I would beg to differ. You are going to pay 3500 for a SD FJ why not get one that has a bit of history to it?

In the mid-60's, these bandoleers were found at every gunshow in the camo pattern as well as blue gray and tan. A large lot was found in Austria along with thousands of field caps and flight blouses, all unissued. You could not give them away at $15 for a long time. Things have changed!

Yes Bob, how very true. I found an old militaria add from the 60's at my dad's house. You could pick out any style of bandoleer for $15 each.
