I still think it is a new fake, but I would like to hear what Francis has to say.

Digital microscopy would help in this case.

I too wonder if it is a new improved fake. None of the "concerns" appear to be present on ET, EF, NS, or Q decaled helmets.

When I get back home, I will compare the decal to other non-ET LW decal manufacturers to see if there is a potential match to one (or a match to a known variant of one)!

Very well spotted. Not worth the risk for that sort of money!

            Hi guys,

Well, I have gone through my database of LW decals and I can confirm that I do not see a match for the LW decal that is subject to this thread. As mentioned previously, it is definitely not a ET-style LW decal, and I can confirm now it is not an EF (nor its known variant), not an NS, not a Q and not an SE/hkp. Based on my review, I can confirm that this LW decal for sure does not resemble the details in the LW decals that I personally have in my database.

Based on the above, and unless Francis or someone who has specialized knowledge on LW decals can establish that this is some rare variant, I would consider this particular LW decal with great suspicion.

I have sent Francis a PM asking for his opinion on this thread.

By the way, besides the areas of concern highlighted previously, one detail that I found particularly egregious was the zig-zag of this toe. Perhaps we can compare notes, because I personally cannot recall ever seeing this peculiar shape in any LW decal:

Hi friends , just saw the topic after receiving Walter PM and I agree with what have been said so far , IMHO a bad decal with the features already shown and common to some fakes but even much more, on the wings for exemple .

Indeed. I think the application and aging of this fake made it rather convincing. Not good.

Francis, have you encountered another one like this?

Thanks, gentlemen, for pointing out this error. It indeed is a shame that we have to be so forensic in this hobby. Once this thread was mentioned to me, I immediately removed the helmet from the website and will examine it in detail together with my father. The point about the "scratch" is well taken. The decal is puzzling, as pointed out, these forgeries are so hard to detect and can fake out even the most experienced individuals. Once again, thank you all for the information.
