    A different Komet

I thought this photo of a Legion Condor veteran was interesting. This photo looks like it was taken pre-war or early war. Does anyone know which other Luftwaffe units used the Komet insignia at this time besides the Sturm Regiment?

Closeup. I don't know what to think of this. The Komet I see most often used for the Sturm Rgt has more curve to the trail.

        Giday Chris,

I believe that the comet device was also used by the first glider unit, including both gliders and towing aircraft, assigned to Sturmabteilung Koch.

I also believe that the comet device was subsequently used by some flying units of LLG 1. Perhaps Stijn might be able to tell us more about this?

It could be that the pilot in the photograph may have flowen one of the aircarft used to tow a glider belonging to Sturmabteilung Koch on 10 May, 1940.

Chris, is there a name written on the back of the photograph?

        All the best,

        Ian

          Komet inisgnia

          Hello,

A very interesting picture, nice awards, etc ....

I can only confirm what Ian did say so far, that the comet devise was used by some glider units (as for example LLG 1).

Untill today i haven't however seen a picture turn up where the device was in wear. It could very well be that this is indeed a pilot attached towards the glider units => mayby a name on the reverse could shed some light in this ?

          Cordial greetings,
