Bruce, I think I know who KH is. Stockos on water pattern is a bad sign. The best repros of water pattern smocks use bad stockos. But, would like to see a photo of your smock. FJ collecting is tough and we have all be burned. A FJ collector who owned several super nice FJ smocks, had a bad water pattern in his collection, so anyone can be taken by these guys.

Katumasa, thanks for the information on those fake Prym 6 snaps. I fear that fake smocks are even going to get better......the next generation that is. It looks like we need to get more snap information out in print.

I sent some detailed photo's of the smock to John. He confirmed that is was a fake. Ask him to send them to you. He said he may start a thread featureing it. I thought KH was trustworthy, he was highly reccomended by the guy I bought the uniform from. I was going to buy more stuff directly from him, but he has turned out to be a crook. I have tried to contact him, but I think he is in hospital at the moment.
      Regards Bruce.

Here is the jump smock that Bruce has. I will post a close up of the eagle tomorrow, that photo is on a computer at work. Thanks for allowing me to post these Bruce.

Anyone who has looked at lot of jump smocks will notice something right away that isn't quite right with this example. It has nothing to do with the tan/water pattern. I believe we shouldn't openly discuss it, for I'm sure that if we do, the fakers will easily correct the error.

Boujour Frenchie, thanks for the presents.

John, that is exactly the one I thought it might be. Those were made by S&M Wholesale in Ca, for use by reenactors. That was their first run, made in the late '90s. The dealer we were discussing last night also had one at the last SOS. These repros have made their way into collections all over the globe. I have even seen them with eagles removed, leaving a nice clean area under the eagle compared to the fading of the smock.

Sorry I got the dealers name wrong, it's K.C. not K.H.

Correct Steve. I have no experience with him, but Perry has always promoted the truth about K.C.. Hope Bruce understands that it's sarcasm in your post.

Sarcasm ? How dare you !

These S+M smocks turn up with alarming regularity on this forum. Once aged , they look very plausable to a new collector. I guess we should commend them .

Thanks for the photos John. Perhaps we should start a "smock hall of shame ".

Yes, many may remember him on the old B. Bell forum.
                            Sorry for the news Bruce.

I think your eyes are good Bob, but can't tell for sure. Otherwise it would be difficult, but not impossible!, to zig zag an eagle on without sewing through the pocket.
