Members of SSVT unit in "Stendal" paratroop school ! Help ...

    Hello !

Interesting photo indeed ! SS-VT soldiers in paratroop school "Stendal" before the war.

Was the "Germania" only one SS-VT unit involved in paratroop trainings or any other SS-VT (or SS-TV) units sent soldiers to schools like "Stendal" ?

    Cheers,
    Alex

That is a great and rare photo Alex. Those first model smocks with Luftwaffe eagles were seldom photographed.

I checked my sources on SS FJs and could not find any reference to other SS units who received jump training in the pre-war years. Mid-war is another matter.

A few volunteers of the VT "Germania" Rgt. underwent training from May 23. - July 17, 1937 in Stendal. They were attached to the I./Rgt."General Göring". As far as I know non of these VT-members received a para badge or award document. One of these volunteers was Knights Cross holder Ernst-August Krag. No other SS unit took part in paratroop training until 1943.
