Quick question for those with more experience than I. Has anyone ever seen an OSANG marked LPB that has a flat wire catch on the bac rather than a round wire catch? I am looking at one that is in good condition but have never seen a flat wire catch before and I want to know if this is good or not. Thanks. Mike C.

To date, the only Osang paras I've seen have had the round wire catch. It would help if you could post pics. Is it a late war badge? In zinc maybe?

Thanks for the interest in my question. I have pics off an email and if I can figure out how to do it I will send them. I did get some more close up photos of the piece and even to my untrained eye this is a fake. The close ups show a very poorly finished eagle with seams running around the edges of the lower wings and inside some of the arms of the swastika. I can't imagine this quality of finish ever passing muster. As they say, I would not want this in my collection as the representative LPB. Thanks guys. Mike C.Comment

Here's the badge I just picked up after knowing about it for years. This pic is rear as front did not turn out, will try later, also mackers name is upside down. This badge has been in a friends collection for 20 years at least if not 25-30. It has OA or OH scratched on the back of eagle but is hard to show in pic.Terry Keller

Hi Terry,
That´s a worn but genuine Osang with the stubby Osang catch that can also be found on his Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badges.
Osang para badges are common with round AND stubby flat wire catches on a small plate.

No problem with that one. Classic mid to late-war manufacture. Some had round wire stock hooks. Others had these flat wire hooks. The inverted hallmark is amusing but perfectly OK and gives it character.
