    Fallschirmjager Mural at Stendal?

Somewhere I remember hearing of a Fallschirmjager Wall Mural at Stendal. Does anyone know if this exists? If so where I can I get to look at some photos?

    Thanks.

        FJ Mural
For those who don't know or have never seen the huge FJ mural on the wall at the 82nd Air Borne Division museum at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, it is a must see for all FJ collectors. I don't know the history of the mural but it has been there since I first visited the museum probably in the early 1960's. It is a painting of a combat jump with FJ paras on the ground and in the air. The ones on the ground are retreiving weapons from the drop cannisters. It covers most of an entire wall in the museum. It should be photographed and copies made so that FJ collectors could use it in their collection rooms. If in the Fayetteville, Ft. Bragg area of North Carolina, it is something you should take time to see. I don't know if there are any brochures that the museum has that has this mural on it, but you might try contacting the museum.

            Hi everyone:
I´ve come across this photo - sorry for the poor quality - and thought it might depict what Erich was looking for. They are members of the 7./FJR2 in Stendal in August 1940, standing right in front of the mural. First on the left is Werner Woitaschik, KIA on 16 December 1943 near Tarasowka, Gustav Jung in the middle, KIA three days later near Nowgorodka. Helmut Hartmann is on the right. He died on 25 February 1988.
The mural was painted by the Fahnenjunker-Ofw. Erns Germer (FJR1), who was awarded the RK on 29 October 1944.
The info is taken from Herbert Wodarz´s : "In jenen Tagen...", published in Bad Zwischenahn in 2003.
            Best Regards. Óscar

WOW! Great photo, Oscar! I've seen the mural at Bragg hundreds of times and it's incredible. Excellent detail! A must see for every fallschirmjager enthusiast. But your mural ... what a find! I've never seen that photograph before. Do you know if the mural survived the war?

                Hi, Gerry:
Yes, it´s indeed a great shot! But it´s the only reference I´ve found about this matter. I don´t know the fate of the original mural .
                Regards. Óscar

                  Mural photo

That is a great photo! I did receive 3 photos of the mural that is now at the Airborne museum. The curator emailed them to me. It is different than the mural in this photo.
