Opinions on M38 SD FJ helmet

I would be very grateful for your opinions regarding this helmet.
    Any red flags?
Worth the asking price of $3550?
Let me know what you think.
    Thanks!

I like the shell, the liner and the straps. It is a 71 to boot. Good helmet in my opinion As for the price, considering what FJ helmets go these days, I believe a single decal, early bolts, size 71 like this one going at that price is pretty fair.

If it passes John and Willi's test I believe it is easily a $3500 helmet. I certainly think it looks like a winner.

          100% correct.

Helmets with liner damage like these sadden me though, not for the helmet, but for the poor jäger. A somber reminder of what war is.

            Here is his description:
"Being offered is this Luftwaffe Single Decal M38 Fallschirmjager Helmet. The
exterior of this ET 71 shell retains approximately 95% of the smooth field
grey paint. The Luftwaffe eagle decal has a couple small scuffs but is still
approximately 95% or better. All spanner bolts are matching, tight and have
never been messed with. The Chinstrap is 100% complete and fairly supple but
does have some separation of the stitching on the 2 straps on the back part
of the chinstrap. The liner is 100% complete and supple with the with the
exception of a spot approximately 3" in diameter where it appears water got
to the liner at some point in time. The liner is dark, dry and stiff in this
spot and this spot corresponds with the stitching separation on the back
portion of the chinstrap, this is right where the back portion of the
chinstrap sits if laid inside the helmet. The helmet is named in 2 separate
spots. The name Engelhardt is written on the center of the liner and there
is also a name finely painted in red near the serial numbers on the rear of
the inner shell but I can?t decipher this one. Overall this helmet would
rate near excellent and is with out a doubt 100% untouched original."

Hi Derek I only have one concern about the helmet, see the line running along the front near the rim of the peak this appeared on a copy ET 71 which I brought from austria a couple of years ago.I got my money back, just a thought.Regards Joey

Joey, do you mean a line etched around the inside of the rim?

Everything looks fine on this helmet Derek. Looks all untouched and I echo John's comment on the FJ who wore it.

                  Thanks for your contribution Willi.
I've got enough confidence now, I'll go ahead with the deal.
                  Thanks everyone for your opinions.
FJ's are new territory for me, so I needed some reasurrance on it.

Hi willi No I mean if you look at the left view with the decal there appears to be a line on the outside just where the helmet curves up to the peak a kind of ridge which I am not aware of on originals, maybe its my eyes ?Regards Joey.
