      Werner, those are amazing photos! Thanks for sharing. That is the first time I have seen the abnehmbarer Lauf K98k in any wartime photo. I understand that Mauser/Oberndorf made a small number experimental detachable barrel rifles in 1942, before the FG42 came out, for FJ use. I have only seen a 1942-dated example.

      I will try to view the site you attached again, but I could not see any of the photos. Because the rilfe pictured has a flat buttplate, it could be one made in 1941. Would like to find out more.

        couldnt believe my eyes, when i saw it (and it already had been posted on 4.10.!)
        for all those who cant access the other forum here is the full take-down k98 pic-set (photoshopped). and yet there is more, samples of bags and pouches, korinth & crete pics etc.

                  Wow, as Willi said, totally amazing. These photos alone are incredible, so I can't fathom the wonder of actually seeing a real abnehmbarer Lauf K98k. Willi, does your friend have one of these?
