I can only assume that it was a vet bring back at some time. I bought it at a gun show in California in the 1990's. Originally thought the "blitz" was a specific unit marking but have never been able to find a corresponding marking. With some help was steered toward the Fernmelder/Funker and with the "Nachrichten-8" unit marking it's the best that I can come up with at this time. Looking up "Fallshirm-Luftnachrichten-Abtielung 8" shows the 8. Fallshirm-Jager Division formed on 9-24-44 from remnants of other units to bolster the Western Front. Was quickly disbanded on 10-15-44 to fill in losses. "Nachrichten-8" was assigned to the Heer 81st Division and served as the communications for 3. Fallshirm-Jager Division thru the Battle of the Bulge, Remagen, and finally Ruhr Pocket. My only guess is that some GI brought it back. If anyone can pinpiont a different meaning for the "blitz" I'd like to know, never seen one made up like this before and what you guys think of it as far as being original. Thanks

Thanks for the extra photos. It has a nice look, but honestly I would have to handle a helmet like this to be sure.

I think it is hard to pin such an emblem down to the exact unit. I agree it might be the marking of the 8th FJD Nachrichten Abteilung, but it seems an odd way to ID that unit with just a "Nachrichten 8".

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. And yes I agree. In the "tweaked" photo of the liner side markings is what appears to be a faint first name or rank. I cannot fully make it out. If the general feeling is that it is a good one then until a paper trail can be found for "Husemann" these markings are the best guess provided by what I've been able to research. And once again if there is any other info anyone can provide, feel free to comment. Thanks
