Late war FJ M38 flared rim

I have a late war flared rim FJ M38 with blood rot on the liner. My question is we're many of these made?, Were intensional or a stamping error. I have seen only a few pictures and have little success in finding much information.
    All information would be appreciated.
If you have one, let's see yours.
    Thanks
    Robb

        Flared rim M38

        Hi Robb

I do not think anyone knows if these were intentionally made this way, or if it was an error. Here is what we do know however.

        1) They are late war production and are all no decal examples.

        2) They have a variety of bolt combinations - some have all slotted steel bolts, some have steel on the rear and slot/vent aluminum on the sides, some have all slotted aluminum bolts.

        3) All but one that I have ever seen were size 68 shell. I have seen one size 71 shell.

        4) They all have the same batch number of 4054.

All this leads me to believe that they were limited to one run and done on purpose but we do not know that for sure. It is interesting that I have heard there are other para helmets in that same batch number run that do NOT have the flared rim but I have not seen one of these myself.

Your helmet looks like a nice example and it would be good to see the inside too!

        Cheers,
        Terry

Here is the requested inside pic., still has a lot of dried blood.
Mine is a 68 with lot number 405? ,can't see last number, but must be 4054 like the rest.

I like these late war flared rim helmets. Interesting arrangement of botls on this one. When encountered with vented aluminum bolts, they are usually on the sides, so this one is unique.

I agree with Terry's assessment of them.
