            Thanks John for the extra pic.

            Love that Jacket Martin I think this firm used a full(tight) zigzaging on their GM FD jackets at that time Martin, as their a bit late FD, HBT Splinter prym 6 snaps Jackets with wool eagles, also were pretty tight although they were sewn in a zigzaging pattern on the wool eagles. Just so you know

                    Hello Doug,

                    Short answer, no, if you mean that the eagle was embroidered to the uniform without any backing. During manufacture all eagles were embroidered to a base fabric, and one of these base fabrics is splinter camo. So, if that is your question, then yes. There were many backings for jump smock eagles and you can see them within this thread.

                    When eagles were sewn to uniforms sometimes they were stitched so closely to the eagle's edges that the base fabric can be seen only in small areas. If the backing of the eagle is the same as the uniform the eagle is sewn to, then it may appear to be embroidered directly to the uniform. Can you post a photo illustrating your question?
