I want to show some pictures I recently did some research on ...

Kurt Gastiger was born 04.07.1908 in a western part of germany ...

He joined the Reichswehr in very early years and after Hitler came to power,
Kurt was taken over into the army infanterie branch of the new Wehrmacht ...

Impressed by the first victorys of the young Fallschirmtruppe he decided to switch over to the Luftwaffe in early 1941 ...

in Feb. 1941 he did his jumpqualification ...

Gastiger became platoonleader of the third platoon of the 5. Coy / FJR 3 under Franz Stangenberg ...

on 20.5.1941 he jumped with his men over crete near the prison ...

He was hit by a gunbullet in the air and died in the first minutes of combat ...

a small piece of history in memory of them.
I have some pics of graves from 7/FJR3 and i think that the names of the dead are on this stone, like this man
Also i have noticed that in every different sector in Crete the crosses had a unique
shape depending the carpenter so someone can find out the place of a grave without reading the name but just looking the shape of the cross....
