    FJ helmet - local find

Nothing really special on what appears to be a KIA helmet. Just found it and will move it along.

Based on an earlier conversation we had regarding late war replacement of aluminum bolts with unpainted spanner bolts, I though this one was worthy of presenting.

                Thought so.

I had an identical one. It was captured in Paris in Aug 1944.

Did it have aluminum nuts on a steel spanner? I have rarely encountered this combination.

                      Hi Willi

This is the flared rim version it seems? So I assume it has the 4054 batch number and is a size 68?

Interesting especially to see that the nuts are aluminum.

Thanks for sharing. Any story or history on this one?

                      Cheers,
                      Terry

Sorry, Willi. I mis-read what you wrote. No, mine had steel spanners and steel nuts. Not aluminium nuts.

                            Hi Terry,
Yes, it is a size 68. I can't make out the entire lot number, but the last digit is a "4". No particular history; it was a vet piece and I am one removed from the source.
