I am afraid I have no idea what he is wearing! /in fact I do not know what the Russian jump badges look like.../. But I think it is definitely not the Bulgarian jump badge, first or second type, this one seems smaller and also the shape is somewhat different.

Hi Theo, I would agree with Gene that the badge in the photo you posted does look like the Soviet Paratroopers badge. Here is an example.

Thanks Ade! In fact I was thinking of the other badge, lower and to the right, and now that you showed me this badge, I looked at the picture again and noticed the second badge on the pocket Indeed it looks like a Soviet one. Not impossible in late 44 or 45, I think.
