If this are original, which IMO think it could be, I quess we found out what the Rayon backed eagles are for. very Interesting.

If you´re worried about the thread and its pattern, take a look on this eagle, which I think are your own. It pretty much look the same.

Jan, I believe what Steve is referring to is the thinness of the thread used to sew the eagle, and despite being torn in places, it does not appear to exhibit the same wear as the eagle and the fabric. Not saying it is not original, many late war smocks had eagles applied in a very loose and large zig-zag pattern, but do share Steve's concerns.

actually if you take the pictures and compare them side by side, the threads looks almost the same IMO, and to judge if the thread are less and more used than the eagle and fabric, I think is a little difficault to say.

So far, from the photos, am ok with it. But do understand Steve's concern. Would have to inspect it in hand for a better opinion.

My concerns are twofold. 1. The eagle itself.
2. The application ( As John has already stated )

To me the eagle looks like one of these : A late-war Rayon breast eagle.
