    …70th years later

Since december 2012 I have got the official confirmation that my great uncle is buried on the military cemetery in Duchowschtschina.

The meeting in 2011 with Sturm74 (Sergey), Maxim and his family and the other people was a great experience. The russian hospitality is awesome.

I will post next week some photos from the trip. Sorry for the long waiting.

This is a photo from the cemetery in Lushki, it’s the grave of Josef Peters.

Shturm74 also helped in gathering materials - Sergey, respect:мир:! There's a lot of photos and historical material. I am writing with an online translator, so there can be errors

This thread is worth reviving. Amazing all the way.

Another amazing coincidence is that my Great Uncle was a late war Fallschirmjager and his Erkennungsmarke was 63092, -3476-.

                Kurt Jeschke's Erkennungsmarke was 63092, -1091-.

A REALLY good and informative thread! Many thanks for the great work!

Here is a doc and a pic from a former member of 9./FJR III. Unfortunately this man died in 2013.

                      Kind regards,

                      Peter

Thanks gents for your attention to this thread and kind words . Hope show some more new pix from this spring trip . Willi plans go there again and took part with us in digging as he still hope find some of his MIAs friends ..
One bad thing happened 2 years ago - our local friend Maxim ( logged here as Werner Holt) died because of accident ..He gave a lot of help in our work there , we rememer him all the time ...
Walther ..now you know the world is so small ...probably you Great Uncle was in the same formation where Kurt served . Too bad that mostly vets not speak a lot about combat especially in Russia , where they had heavy casaulties and also foreign historics like keep and collect info about Holland , Kreta and Normandy cause they more closer to them and only a little numbers pay attention to Eastern front events .If someone of forum members has any additional info - don't hesitate contact me or post it here .
I think this evening I will post some more pix from our trip with Willi , Steffen and Max ..

                            Sergey makes a awesome job.
It's so bad that Maxim died. I don't know him very well, but he was a really good guy.

                            Maxim a real paratrooper.
