          Definitely SVT.
          Here is a picture of AVS. It has a distinguished muzzle brake.

                Great job Edgar looks like a great book.

                One of the Ex-II./Sturm-Rgt veterans here in the U.K. once told me that some of the FJ used Russian rifles along the Newa in preference to there own weapons. Ironically the Russian rifle he had saved his life when it was hit by a bullet during a Russian assault. Part of the bullet passed through the rifle and wounded him. He spent some time in a field hospital but he fully recovered.
