Was it a first hand find or just the story, I mean if 100% original is a one of a kind helmet, jet I am surprised that the aging of the wire has not affected the camo in any way, no staining, nor dust build up, it looks rather clean for being in an attic allthis time

Had the same thoughts - while the cover is 100%, I doubt the wire sits there for a long time.
Also, is the connection of the single wire "square-patches" not postwar-method?

Cover is 1000% original, but I could be agree with you for the wire, with only this picture it is impossible to judge the wire…

Didnt you first like the helmet? Or didnt you see the wire well enough??

Take a good look at the pictures Patrick , then you will see that the wire has allways been on there .

The wire is in the cloth, not on it.

I dont know what you guys are seeing , but I see wire that allways has been on there .
I never said anything about an attic , so if people want to make a comment , first read and then post .

This helmet has been in the same collection for 32 years .
Of course it does make sense , you take a good helmet with cover , and then put a fake wire over it.
And also damage the cover with the wire . Sure.

Well so far I am still drooling Rob, so you can send it my way should you change your mind about it.

Please show some shots of the cover and wire along the rim.

                        Regards,
                        John

My apologies for the attic, got comfused with another coment on the thread, yet for a a wier and cover added during the war and that was exposed to elements, and then 60+years it looks like the wire aging ardly affected the cloth of the cover.

Have you ever seen a wire over a FJ cover ? Please show me an example , since you know how the cover should look after 60 years .

NOW I can see that the wire was there for a while - from the one foto it was impossible to tell.

Do not send it to John overseas for inspection, I pick it up personally, much easier...
