A beauty. Interesting statement at the end. He says that the third pattern tan and water smock was developed as early as mid-1940??? John? Steve? Willi? Can this explain the '41 date found on one of Willi's and mine?

          The link is: http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Luftw...4Uniforms.html

Peter has found a few good things very recently including that nice HG panzer officer's uniform!

Yes, I had a heads-up on that one coming on. I am still somewhat in sticker shock on it, but for a good one, I suspect that is really what you should expect to pay.

              Hey Jack, sticker shock?

Hi Jack, I think it's cheap, real cheap!
Other than Eric's, how many pocketless green smocks has anyone seen? ANY? Like Willi's, most of these had pockets applied. Pocketless jump smocks are as rare as tropical jump smocks; rarest of the rare IMHO.

The condition is pretty worn though.

              Best,
              John

                Correction

And, these smocks were in production in 1938, not 39 as Peter states.

IIC is a good mannequin size, IMO it should sell immediately.

What did that set go for.

                    Jack,
I'm no expert but a 3rd pattern tan/water smock with a 41 date sounds like a misprint to me. I don't believe they were making 3rd patterns, let alone tan/water ones in 1941.
Does it say "1941" or just "41" ?
                    Regards
                    Steve

                      Hi Steve,

As usual you are right, I've seen mis-dated smocks before. The first tan waters came out in 43; the earliest third pattern splinters were not even produced until the summer of 42, so a 41 tan-water IMO is impossible. 1941 was all step in production.

This is fun, hope Willi is ok with it!

                      Best,
                      John

Willi also thinks they are misprints. So, I think that Steve, John and Willi are right. I was just a bit surprised by Peter's date on the production of them.

John, sticker shock was on the HG wrap set.

Matt, it went for over $11K. I was ready for $7K and had checkbook in hand. But that made me a bit weak in the knees.

                          Thanks for the sitrep Jack.
I think Peter's smock is worth over twice what he was asking.

                            Thanks Jack
Thats a lot, but I have never seen a set that I thought was real so I did not know what they were going for.

OK, who really believes that Peter ( who wants 150% of market for everything else on the site ) sold this rare smock for half what its worth?

I reserved it by voice mail and email just minutes after it was listed. Didn't receive any answer until this morning a one line email "sorry, she's sold "
Thats an interesting way to sell. Update the site and have absolutely no way that the perspective buyers can contact the seller. My guess is this was sold long before it was put on the site ( if it was ever available at all )

                              EQ

BTW, I will be listing some 800 silver engraved APB's for $1500 each on estand later today. They're not really for sale, I just want to see how many people will write me..........
