    Special Identity Card

    Hi,

Unlike their comrades in other branches of the Wehrmacht, who kept their Soldbuch’s in their tunic breast pocket, men of the Fallschirmtruppe never carried their pay books when jumping into combat. They were kept by a regimental or divisional department, usually at their place of departure until the return of the man. They did carry with them a special identity card.
I read this on a website about German Fallschirmjäger, (http://web.archive.org/web/200601100....uk/index.html) and was wondering if anyone else had any more information on these or any pics.

    Thanks.

It is called a Tarnausweiss. Do a search in this section, and perhaps the document section, and I am sure you will find some additional information. I have seen them come up for sale, rare item that it is, on the e-stand in the past.
