9 nice detail: LOOK AT THE FLIEGERBLUSE MODIFIED BY EXPOSING THE BUTTONS! I have found several examples locally with such a field alteration. Unfortunately, all too damaged to be considered...still collectible. But evidently it was not a "single man" wish, to fashion the bluse that way.

THAT'S ALL FOR NOW... I hope images taken this way from a book are still clear enough, but I can grant these are sumpf style.
Also, consider these are all images taken in late April '45 in the Vicenza area, where a full Fj division (what was left at least) surrendered. We are thus not talking of a few individuals. They came from the Bologna Area, Gothic line, after tremendous fighting with allied troops, leading to Rovereto di Trento and then to Home, via Brenner Pass... they operated in Vicenza area for several time.
So, you have to consider that we are not even talking of 3/4 sumpf smock only... and the same guys fought in Bologna area for several months before...so...they were already in Italy.
I am sure I can find other photos, now dug somewhere here. Will be back as soon as I can scan them. Also asked for support from other friends here, so I am sure something else interesting should surface. The sumpf pattern was definitely used here in Italy too, and really I can't imagine why there should be a reason not to use them... of course splinter, as we all know, were favourite when possible, but when not possible to choose...

Another "theory" I have about the scarcity of images of water smock in wear, is that, when looking at dozens of snapshots size images of jumpsmocks in wear "in the field", they often look so dusty and dirty that I really find difficult to determine if they are green, splinter, or water...maybe we "handled" some sumpf smock images before, and we did not even realize that.
Just my opinion, of course.

Thanks for the info Larry,and Daniele for all the new to me pictures.Where they outnumbered to surrender in the town,and too partisans and not allied units?.Like maybe not main unit,as think read the divsions or one?,surrendered to allied units later in april 1945?.

And the partisans either found the supplies of the FJ in the town,as wearing a few smocks.So must have liked them ,too take them off the FJ prisoners,as see some in picture with no smocks.

It was suggested that I post this one also, found in Imola. Interesting that this example was modified internally with the addition of slightly padded shoulders.
