Remind me when the tan-water smocks came in,1944 right?.Are there any real pictures i could see dress liked this thanks.

these boots are captured British ones though circa 50's

this smock is not dated, but I thought 43 was the first year they appeared?

I suspect Willi is responsible for calling this look "Italian front" thanks to a single line in the Kurtz book. I think a splinter or a green smock would be more representative .

I vote for splinter Steve. Dang Willi for doing this.

Sumpfmuster smocks are best for "the final defense of Germany in late 44 and early 45" mannequins.

It is a great set up John! Put some laces in those boots, black fabric with metal tips.

Yes, a splinter or green would be more appropriate. But heck, water pattern sure looks cool! I guess because the one I used came back from a depot in Italy it would look nice.

I do wonder when, if ever, they wore water pattern smock in Italy. Anyone have any photos?

I know a FJ who was wounded in May of '44 while wearing a converted green step-in. When he picked up a new smock after he returned to his unit in late May, he received a new green step-in. He was not happy as he was expecting something more "current".

Water pattern is also good for a Normandy or Brittany mannequin .
