I highly recommend John Hodgin's German Paratroops in North Africa. Although the focus is FJ in North Africa, his book contains a wealth of information on FJ uniforms, equipment, etc, in general.

          Hello,

Thanks, a precision, I am looking for books about "Uniformology" and as I am over the pond it is hard to find these books here, so I need to choose carefully because of the shipping cost.

Will everybody agree about "The german paratrooper" by Robert Kurz as the "one to have" for a beginning?

          Best Regards,

          VV

            Hi VV

If I had to choose between the two I would go for John's book first! It's simply the better one of the two. Thank god I do not have to choose since I have a whole lot of books, almost all the ones John mentioned. Eric Queen's book is a must if you are into early paratroops.

John's Afrika book can be bought via the various Amazons, so no international shipping applies.

            cheers
            Uwe

PS: What is still missing is an in depth work around the Eben Emael raid...anybody out there who knows if artifacts of this great operation still exist?

Thank you for the very kind words Uwe!

I believe a WAF member is working on a book on Eben Emael.

Chris Mason's book is a good book for information on uniforms, but lacks the abundance of color photos that many prefer.

The "Kurtz" book is indeed a good beginning book for uniforms. Do not consider it a perfect reference however, IMHO there are a few reproductions in the book, not among the uniforms, but other pieces.

Eric Queen's book is a must, as is Franz Kurowski's.

There are others, will list them later.
                Regards,
                John
