FJR "Habicht" 8

Hi Everyone,

I have a small grouping to a member of Fallschirmjaeger Regiment 8.

One of the docs (concerning the location of his Tarnausweis) makes mention of Fallschirm Jr "Habicht" 8. Can anyone tell me the significance of "Habicht" please? I've tried searching on Google but without any luck.

Only a few pieces relate directly to his brief career as a Fallschirmjaeger.

We have his Para Badge (Stoff) entitlement notice. Does anyone recognise the signature?

Entitlement to the Wound Badge - Silver, for wounds rec'd 20.9.44.

If I am not mistaken, he survived Normandy and Falaise, only to be wounded somewhere near Aachen. Am I correct?

TobyR when did he join the FJ service,and first action in normandy was it,and last action in aachen area and then war over for him,like hospital till the end?.

Yes, that's a "Habicht"... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goshawk

Beside that it's a common surname in germany.
