    Unusual Camo Helmet photo

I don't know if this photo was posted before but I just spotted it on the Bundesarchiv photo gallery. I thought some here would be interested.

Isn't that a piece of American camo material under that wire. The photo is marked as a Fallschirmjager in France

    Hi,

Yes , it's a piece of an US camo parachute under the chiken-wire. He's probably a member of the FJR6 or 3FJD ????

Yes, that picture is a classic for helmet lovers. I mean, can you imagine if you found that helmet somewhere?? I think I would need a change of shorts right then and there.

Well Walter you'd better change your shorts because I have two of them. I wish!

That picture is also featured in the book, "Dying for St. Lo".

          Best,

It looks just like a piece of camo parachute a member of the 504 PIR 82nd gave me. He cut it from his parachute after landing during Market Garden. He said that he cut a piece of the chute off after landing, that he was going to use it for a helmet cover but never did. He was kind enought to cut a piece off for me. A combat treasure!

It's also in my book from 10 years or so ago, Soldat Volume VIII, Fallschirmjaeger, with cover photography courtesy of Moderator John Hodgin.

Interesting photo indeed! There is another one with particular camo on helmet from the same origin, have not seen anythig like this before.

Also from the book "Dying for St. Lo". A helmet just like this one was sold at the 2008 SOS.

is it a section of a chute ? or is it cut from the camo uniforms that some of the yank units wore in normandy ?

Sorry to bring an older topic back to life but has anyone ever seen any pictures or have any evidence of FJ wearing german camouflage parachute material in this manner?
