      Depends on your criteria Tom,

The blouse "looks" genuine, but the Fj band is not authenitc in my opinion, and therefore certainly not original to the blouse. If Weitze claims the band is a one of a kind custom hand embroidered example, can he verify this?

      Regards,
      John

I have always found this band interesting. I have only seen two (including this one) and both (interestingly enough) came from Klaus Peters (Weitze bought it from Peters). Both bands to me were made at approx the same time, with the same materials and same pattern. As for the other (loose) one, it can be seen pictured in Peter's FJR3 Vol. 1 and I think I have a color photo of it around here somewhere. Peter's claims that the loose one came from Franz Stangenburg (former FIB and Kompaniechef 6./FJR1 at the time of operation Case Yellow). The band to me looks poorly made in comparison to the "standard" FJR1 officer bands, but I think it is "possible" that is could be good. Peters did get most all of his material from vets and Mr.Stangenburg was one of the people he used to talk to. The problem with these bands is they could definately have been made at the "cottage industry" level locally in Braunschweig. They would not meet most of the "textbook" requirements but would still be "original" (if your definition of original is made during the period).

I don't know for sure but I think it's "possible".

Now how long it has been on this tunic is a different matter...........
