FJ helmet M 38 SD, please help

Hello

I got this helmet offered. It came from an old collection, and the old man is changing his collecting area, so he is selling a few things to friends aso. He owns the helmet for years and bought it years ago from america.

What is your opinion to this helmet?

The chin strap was replaced and is not an original one but the rest of the helmet should be original.

The liner is marked but damaged, the shell also looks good to me an the eagle too.

I cannot say if the bolts are original.

The price is very good, because the man is speaking about prices which such stuff cost years ago ;-)

Straps are not period which means the liner was out and is missing the top padding. Bolts don't look good to me (could be wrong) but for sure they don't look as part of this helmet.

Others with more knowledge may tell you about the bird, I think it is ok from these photos.

I don't like those straps to start with... as for the rest, looks good but like already said, if the straps are replaced post war then watch out for more hick-ups

Everything commented so far is true. The shell, the decal, the paint, and the liner are original. The straps are fake. The bolts are probably fake but even if original, surely not original to this helmet. It is missing the foam rubber top pad.

In this configuration and condition, it should be really cheap or I'd pass on it.
