    Kassel 2008 FJ-report

Although I have met several other "FJ-addicted" members, so far nobody has started a thread... so:

(it was not as fantastic as last year - some of you know what I mean...)

    I have seen:

    - at least 5 pairs of 2nd modell boots
    - 2 gasmask-bags (incl. that one)
    - only 2 untouched helmets
    - some nice badges (most have been there already last year)
    - 1 RZ20
    - tan kneepads
    - green kneepads
    - some bandos (the usual mint splinter, or tan ones)
    - 3 pairs of mint summer gloves

I found (the contents of the white plastic-bags deserve a thread on its own, once I have sorted it out):

Patrick said it all, not very impressive show for para collectors.

I was more foccused on other stuff (got me some goodies in that case), but I recognized many fake para badges, some of them were very scary ones.

Of course some originals, but standard items only. One cased early Deumer could be found in the sellers cabinet since 3 years now. Perfect badge with a price which raised from show to show over the years (maybe the seller should try it the other way around).

For Army paratrooper fans (I call me one) there was not much to see. At least 1 (!!) original badge which could be found on Winklers table. A beauty for 4500 Euro

Yannis was able to buy a nice BN&L, Patrick linked Jens (Oberjaeger) to one of the rarely to find original and unmessed para helmets. So Jens got a nice late war lid with flared rim and all for a very resonable prize.

I saw another good one (late war slotted steel bolts), but the rest was heavily messed with or simply a fake. MF had a very clever made camo fake and a German scammer camos in spring, summer, autum and winter colors

The second day of our tour didn´t brought much more, at least the both securities at the frontdoor no longer wanted to controll and check my pockets (the same guys and I had a little discussion the day before about German law ) .

However, Yannis, Jens and I had a good time in and outside the show.

Forgot to mention: One of those pairs was once mine, I sold it app. 10 years ago - sometimes its funny to see an "old comrade" surfacing again, I wonder were they have been in the meantime.

                      gas mask bag value

What is the going price for one these? One of my local sources claims to have a lead on one but I haven't seen it yet. Don't know if it will materialize but what is a reasonable price for one if he comes through??

                      Thanks for a reply.

                        Joe,
A really nice one (like the one shown) would easily make $2000+ on any dealer's site. Beware though, there are some very good copies being made . It would be a good idea to post a few photo first before you buy.

                        Regards,
                        Steve
