Funny, I saw one for sale almost identical to it a couple of weeks back in the Chicago area. Hmmmm....

Based on the two pictures I would say that it actually is an original mid to late war FJ helmet.
However, pictures are blurry and there are non included of the chinstraps itself.
One would really need better and more pictures to got to a conclusive opinion.

Please people, this forum is for WW2 items, not Korean war stuff!
From the pictures, this helmet doesnt look bad to me. The story might actualy be true for once. Note the pathetic detail:"he didnt know if it was north or south Korean".

I like the looks of it but I'm never 100% sure of para helmets. I do not buy high end helmets from ebay but this could be a good gamble.

Looks like a very fine, untampered with, typical late war helmet. Someone is going to get an excellent addition IMHO.

                I agree with John...

                ...nothing visibly amiss here.

Please help a new guy learn.

Why is there no decal on a late war helmet ?

                  TIA

Hi, from August 28th 1943 all decals were ordered to be removed from helmets in order to cheapen costs and improve camoflauge; so a helmet made after this date would not have a decal.
By rights, this order was to extend to all helmets in use, but as you can see by all the decaled helmets that survive today this order was not adhered to.
                    Cheers, Ade.

I agree that the helmet looks pretty good. If it was actually bought in Korea, what an interesting tale it must have. How could it end up there? Perhaps the former East Germany (or the Soviets) sent military materiel to aid the North Korean effort prior to the opening of hostilities?

How it ended up in Korea ?

My guess is a US soldier picked it up in Germany where he was stationed just after WWII. His unit was sent to Korea when the conflict started and he brought it with him. He lost it in a Poker game and the drunk winner didn't have a clue where it came from. He assumed it was a Korean helmet. Just a guess ->ty
