I just want to share with you this nice picture taken in July 1942 of a paratrooper before his departure for Afrika. More photos are in the book of K.J. Peters (FJR 3). This shot was probably not used by the author ?

As tu déjà vu sur d'autres photos d'époque ou chez les vétérans quelque chose de comparable ?

The sleeve badge is very interesting. So is the attachment on his K98. I presume it is a grenade-launcher.

Hi Prosper,

Yes, that is a grenade launcher. It is the very early "spigot" launcher, "Schiessbecher mit Klappkorn", as it is referred to. A very rare piece and seldom photographed.
