Allan, I would pass if I were you.

Sure, it could be field-made. It could also be a heavily aged post war piece.

The eagle (HBT?) looks very poorly applied. I would like to see a close up of the eagle.

Many members will criticize Field made items such as this Splinter Camo Jacket made from Zeltbahn material. Hard to say whether period or not. One thing for sure it is not FJ nor a smock. If the seller is saying it is FJ or a smock and asking alot of money I recommend that you pass. Bill

Bill, the issue is as you said; "hard to say whether period or not." Most don't want to spend their money on items such as that.

That is what it comes down to. A field-made camo Panzer wrap or shortened/ modified FJ smock is a completely different matter than someone copying an item such as a Luftwaffe field division jacket, IMO, which was available in large numbers during the war. Such large numbers that the vets brought home 100s of mint examples. What is the point of copying one down to many of the details such as the field dressing pocket? And then, poorly applying a HBT eagle by hand?
