    FJG 42 in North Africa

Did the FJG 42 reach any FJ units in North Africa? If so when?

    Jeff, I don't think so.

IMO the first use of the FG42 in combat was the summer of 1943. I know for sure elements of the 1st FJD used the 1st model in Sicily. I once went to a museum somewhere in the north of England (went in 1988 and can't find the photos) where there was a 1st model displayed. It had been captured by the Durham Light Infantry at Primosole bridge in Sicily during August of 1943. We know they were used at Gran Sasso but I am not sure if elements of the 2nd FJD used them in Italy during the summer/fall of 1943.
