    FJ helmet leathermarkings help !

    Hi.

I have a FJ helmet that comes from Norway. Taken in Oslo in May 1945.
On the leather it is marked:

    Sdf. (Z)
    Hallen (FJ`s name)

Can anyone help me with the Sdf. (Z) markings?

    Thanks.

    Derek

    The name is: Haller

perhaps if you take another picture the top could be better deciphered.

      Hi Hardy.

Yes when I look at the liner in the correct ligth, I can read Haller.
And I am quite sure the other is Sdf. (Z).

It could stand for Sonderführer (Z) Haller.

Probably a translater (Dolmetscher) attached to the Fallschirmjäger.

          See here: http://www.deutschesoldaten.com/ranks/sonder1.htm

          Very interesting helmet Derek

Sonderführer (Z) = a position normally held by a Leutnant.

            (Z) for Zugführer, Hilfsarzt, Dolmetscher Z, Sonderführer Z.

              Hi Hardy.

Yes interesting what you have found out and interesting that my helmet could have been used by a Leutnant.

              "Fallschirmjäger und Sonderführer (Z) Haller".
