    FJ Vets

    HaloJager,

Yes, there are vets in the US and in Europe and many of the forum members have contact with them. I've talked to one in particular, a friend of a friend on the forum, and he is always willing to share his experiences and stories. He remembers a great deal; very sharp mind.

It's difficult at times to talk with these vets becuase those that know them are wary of the intentions of people who want to contact them. Are you contacting them out of historical interest, or do just want to see if they have any FJ stuff? (Not you personally, but you get what I mean).

Come to the WW2 reenactment in Lowell, IN on May 3-4. There will be an FJ vet (FJR.19) as well as a 2nd Panzer vet. Possibly a Luft flak NCO too. These gentlemen are WONDERFUL guys and come out every year. The sad truth is each year is likely their last.

If you really care about meeting German vets, don't think twice about the drive from the East Coast. You'll miss a once in a lifetime opportunity.

        PM me for details.

        Mike

I have met the Flak vet Mike speaks off. He is not only very nice, but he is funny as well. Not to mention one of his good friends is a U.S. veteran that was in the 90th ID (the unit I portray) and the 90th vet's grandson reenacts German!!!

Ive heard of a few FJ vets living in the Northern Va AO/Alexandria. I guess they make there way out to the LEHR Kompanie events. Also i believe the author of the FJ SOLDAT books C mason is out this way.
