      Giday everyone,

The winning bidder was Patrick Leenders.

David, the photograph is not unique. I have an almost identical photograph that I bought for 60 euros a year ago.

It will be very interesting to see what impact the high price paid by Patrick for this photograph will have on prices in the future for photographs of Eben Emael in general and those that show DFS 230 gliders in particular.

      What do others think?

      Best wishes,

      Ian

To me it's still a 60 Euro pic.. and maybe that's too high already..

Fetish comes to mind...or even worse some brain damage..

So now we've Sudek, Leenders..and probably a few more , also saw a guy who's buying every Fieseler Storch plane pic...for any price..

I'm happy with only the scans..

          Pic

The buyer maybe writing a book and is needing original unpublished photographs. I have been buying pics for over a year for a project I am working on, but never paid anywhere near that amount.

Ridiculous prices being paid as usual....I've seen his name alot lately buying up Fallschirmjaeger photos. Mind you if I ever sold my Eben Emael Glider photos I could make a killing! No chance though...not in this lifetime. Bill

As long as it is a genuine collector/researcher and not sudek13 I am a-okay.

If it's true that each one of us can do what he wants with his money, I quote in full what CM wrote...and as Ian says I think that this price will put an hard mark on the market....

Dont you all think its strange that 4 or 5 bidders all had the same type of username: c***5 d***1 etc etc....
Bidding on your own items etc..... money laundering etc....

                          Giday one and all.

Like David, I too have found myself in situations where I was competing against the seller who was using another identity to push up the price of the photographs that I was bidding on.

When you specialise in collecting photographs that relate to a particular event and/or a particular unit, you get to know the user ID's of your competitors. When someone that I have never encountered before starts bidding against me, and searches reveal that the "new competitor" does not have a history of buying the photos that I buy, it certainly looks like someone is deliberately pushing the price up, ie. the seller or a friend of the seller.

In the present instance, I don't believe that Patrick's strategy of placng up to four bids of ever increasing value at the same time is helping him. In my opinion, this practice encourages the unscrupulous sellers to place bids of their own until they exceed all but Patrick's highest bid.

                          What do others think?

It will be interesting to see if there is a sudden influx of photos showing DFS 230 gliders offered for sale on ebay.

                          Best wishes,

                          Ian

That is eBay's way of hiding usernames, so frauds can't contact them for phony "Second Chance" offers.
