    Kassel FJ report

    Hello guys!

I´m just back from the WBK Kassel, one of the bigger shows here in Germany. Not very impressive line-up in case of FJ items. The same fakes as every year....a lot of Army para fakes (saw not one original!)

Some nice and original "normal" para badges, most went fast. Saw a couple of FJ helmet, but not one which I would call top-shelf.
3 or 4 tan & water smocks which I believe to be original. A set of tan colored knee pads, a pair of summer gloves, some FJR cuffs. One RZ20 complete, one other without chute ( but with all straps, buckles and hooks).

There was one very nice cased para badge...a MINT EARLY DEUMER (I know about less than 8 out there)

no,no.....I passed on it (no money....because I hit the jackpot in my new collecting area). But I hope, that one of the members here will find it.

For the prices: Still on a high level, but I´m sure, that only real top stuff will raise in future.

    Examples:

    Tan knee pads 950.- Euro
Cased mint early Deumer 2100.- Euro
    Cased Juncker 1200.- Euro
    Relic shell 1200.- Euro

At the end of my little report....the most dreadful fake I saw :
A Para badge with diamonds (offered as original of course)

Thanks for the report Gerd. Were the tan knee pads RB numbered or maker marked? Either way, rare pads.

Well, I"ll start from the bottom ..
I see regular $ 100/125 Summer eagles now sell for $ 295...., it's a new, super recent trick to lift such items to this level..
PC, bag of chips, a beer... and let's try to find some stupes..
As long as we cry " QUITE NORMAL PRICE , F V CKING A , I WISH I HAD THAT..., you know what will happen next..

I've seen "Kassel" dealers trying to buy for less than 50% of market value and succeeded and a week later these items were for 150% on their site..
That's the spirit nowadays and we morons like it for some strange reason..
Guess I'm getting to old to understand simple militaria, it has become a rather nasty mental problem I'm afraid.

        Jos.

That was a mint "Dietzel". A beautiful smock, just a shame about the eagle .
Gerd, did the Kassel smocks have their eagles ?

                Regards,
                Steve

I think it depends if you are at the right place at the right time. Just received a phone call from a friend who came back from Kassel more than happy with splinter smocks, jump boots and fliegerbluses

                      As always in collectors life

I call me one of the lucky winners of this years Kassel show as well (from my point of view). But that will be thread topic in a different WAF section.....

Steve! Not one of the tan&water had the eagle attached.

One more proof that even with a strong Euro Europe is still cheaper than the States for many TR items.
