Seeking info on Jg. A. Langer, 6th FallReg

Hello, I am trying to locate any info on Jager A. Langer. I believe he was in the 6th Fallschirm Regiment in the Normandy - Brest area. I have his camo para helmet. It was originally a DD and named to a Hauptfeldwebel. I believe it was reissued to Langer(he hand wrote his name in it). It is the yellow and green camo pattern w/ sawdust in it. The helmet also came(from the vet's family)w/ a camo cover. The vet only fought in France. He was a US paratrooper. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Rich

Paul, Sorry this took so long - my travel schedule. Attached are photos on the helmet and the camo cover that came with it. I purchased the helmet from the nephew of the vet in the late 70's. I believe the helmet which is a DD ET 71, lot nr 4541, was an early issue - probably to the Hauptfeldwebel whose name appears so clearly in the rim. I believe he was wounded in the Holland campaign. I believe it was reissued to Jg A Langer in the 6th Para Regt in Normandy. Langer must have had an interesting job - see the camo cover and the cutouts for two eyes and a mouth. I bought the helmet, a German canteen, and a set of US jump wings and was leaving when the kid handed me the cover and said I would probably want this too! I asked how the holes got there and he and his Dad affirmed that it came out of the footlocker that way! The remainder of the footlocker contents were underwear and socks. WE know the vet was airborne and served in France. Wonder what happened to Langer? thanks Rich

            Rich:

            Looks like a fantastic combination.

I would post the para's information on the Orders and Research Forum and see if anyone can help you. Those fellows are very nice and I'm sure would be willing to help you out.

            Thanks for sharing.

However, even without a wire: A great helmet
