Helmet with one of two gasmask-cans I own (for a long time, both from a diff. source) in 100% same colour:

              Patrick,

awesome finds! You always seem to find the right stuff at the right time. And another green smock! - Are you trying to build a whole platoon of these greenies?
The blue helmet is not what I would call a 'stunning camo', but it is very interesting, seeing the camo paint covered by blue paint. One would suggest green by this time was preferred, probably they used what was on-hand. Probably a quick 'in-transit' job between Italy and Russia.
Great that a connection to Sergey's helmet could be made. One of the things that makes this forum so good.

              Kind regards,
              Frank.

It seems like blue paint used for camo-reasons was not rare back then - maybee we should start a "blue-camo"-thread?

That would be a good idea Patrick! Allthough I have nothing the like in my collection, I am very curious to what items were camo'ed blue, and if these are LW specific or through all branches.

                  Frank.

How many hooks are still on the shell? The hook does appear to be much larger than those used on covers.
Any comments on hooks , Willi ???

Von der Schulenburg have his own idea about military fashion. Also he wears a Luftwaffe "crusher" visor with no chinstraps.

Sergey, I have decided to wait almost 10 years before I will answer..... thanks

Certainly not helmet cover hooks, but I have seen larger era hooks such as these.

Very nice Dirk. I used to own a similar one which was dated '44.
