    Fallschirmjäger-Fla-MG-Btl.

    Hi all,

Just a few quick questions about the Fallschirmjäger-Fla-MG-Btl. deployed on the Ostfront in 1942.

    1. Would the men of this unit have had full jump training?
    2. Would they have worn the distinctive Fschjg. helmet and jump smock in action?

    Thanks for any help.
    Jason

I was asking generally about the men of the battalion, but now that you ask, I am specifically interested in 4./Fallschirm.-Fl.-MG.-Btl. at Stalingrad. There's a blurry photo in v. Roon's Bildchronik but details cannot be made out.

Through a PM, however, I have been told that the men did wear the distinctive helmets and jump smocks. At least that holds true for members of the battalion deployed in northern/central Russia.

      All the best,
      Jason

This booklet has not yet been published. Its publication has been on hold while I gather some more material for it. Unfortunately, the release date has been continually pushed back because other book projects have taken precedence. Rest assured, as soon as it is available, I will post an announcement in this very forum.

                All the best,
                Jason
