Flieger knife lanyard clips

I would like to make some knife lanyard reproductions for the members of our unit.

While I have many photos of various lanyards, I have no real idea on how long the lanyard should be or what size the clips are.

Would someone be able to tell me the length of a gravity knife lanyard with the diamond (braided) pattern cord and the dimensions of the clip.
