    M38 FJ Helmet needs authentification..

Hi, I have recently bought a FJ helmet. The inner is repro but the helmet is in almost mint appearance from the outside with two decals (damage to the tricolour and some damage to the eagle mainly on the swastica itself). The shell is smooth with only light rust etc around the spanners. It has the remnants of colour and could be described as olive green. The seller said he bought the helmet from a deceaced estate in Perth some 20 years ago (shell only at that stage, linner added by him). The numbering is CKL (all upper case) 71 3892. When I find my connection for my digi cam into the laptop I will post some pics. Any idea in the meantime?

    Double decal already raises suspicions.
    Originals are very rare.
Let's wait until we see your photos.
    Regards,
    RAY.

A double decaled CKL is not possible and never original!!!! CKL are late war made helmets! DD's are pre war helmets!

The Eisenwerke Thale (ET) was relocated into the Czech Protectorat 1944 and got a CKL (ckl or CKL) new brandmark at that time.

Hello, if it looks like that, it is a common copy

The shells can be bought for under $100

Yes, of course, Gerd is absolutely correct with this observation.

I would agree with Gerd, CKL is definitely late war so if the helmet is a double decal it would give me a lot of concern regarding the originality of the shell.

            All the best Gareth

My advice is to return the helmet. It will not be an original. Sorry.
