Cut down FJ Smock

Don't know if the smock is original but it's a damned shame if it is...anyways, take a look at the picture on the bottom left. That has got to be POST WAR. Devil's Brigade perhaps?

French seller says do not bid on that ebay auction as he has listed it on the French Ebay site and it is up to 251 Euros. Here is the site

Unfortunately that smock has been butchered by someone who didn't have a clue as to what the were doing. They cut it really too short and the sew job at the bottom is really bad. The seller is trying to compare it with a Signal Corps photo of German POW's arriving in the USA wearing tailored cut down smocks. There is a very big difference between the two! I have several cut down tailored smocks in my collection but this one makes me want to vomit.

You Got that Right!!! The smock is cut way to short...it would leave the wearer having the bottom of the smock up on the area of his chest. Someone is going to pay alot of money for an original smock that has virtually been destroyed by some village idiot!!! Bill

From the type of trop hat they are wearing I also believe the photo is contempory of the early part of the French Idochina war.

The picture is definately WWII. It was taken by the U.S.Signal corp, I think at the POW Debarkation port of Newport News VA. WR Jim

cut down tailored smocks

Hi

I send you this WW2 picture from Normandy.
The paratrooper on the right seems to wear a cut down tailored smock!!!!

But perharps, the smock is only in the troussers? I don't know.
What do you think?
