clk is a late war code (early one looks like ET) for Eisenh******252;ttenwerke placed at Thale area. 71 is a size and 7775 is a batch number.

Size 71 shells are the most commonly encountered fakes. So, please proceed with caution or post some photos for us to see.

Sorry, but it is a 2nd generation Czech fake. The whole thing. They tried to harden the foam pads with a tan substance, something they improved upon from the 1st generation of fakes. These have always been the most dangerous fakes, having found their way into numerous collections and dealer inventories. Mainly because there weren't any convincing fakes before these and were manufactured solely to fool collectors.

Not really. Unless they handle alot of items, it is tough, if not impossible, to keep up with the entire spectrum of militaria.

I think I heard of Mike. Doesn't he focus primarily on daggers?

How much was this helmet? That too will be an indicator.

Paul, sadly I agree with whats been said, it's not a good one. As Willi mentioned the price will also be an indicator and it is, not many original FJ helmets of any kind available for $3500. Tim.
