    Paras make game debut

I know this might be a bit more appropriate in Die Kneipe, but I thought the fellow para buffs might appreciate these shots. This is from the retail version of a new game called Day of Defeat. Actually the game has been around for a while as a download only but was just released this month.

You can even take down an opponent with the handy gravity knife. The models for the soldiers are great...too bad the rest of the graphics are a bit blocky!

        Hi Willi--
The paras are only in a couple of the maps. This is a first-person shooter and it has 15 different settings including Caen and D-Day. It is either the Americans or British against the Germans. On some maps you can play as the paras and get the FG-42, but not on every one.

Still it does look pretty cool and I think they did a decent job with the models.

              Peter,

Do you know if this will be available on Playstation2? Did you find a release date for the new Medal Of Honor Pacific War game? Can you tell that I've got to much time on my hands?

              Fergus.

This game will NOT be released for the PlayStation 2. It is a PC game only and began as a user created "mod" (modification of an existing title).

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube is scheduled for the end of year/beginning of 2004 -- probably the latter. Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault for the PC is schedule for the same time frame. But Activision is also working on their own WWII shooter franchise called Call of Duty. That looks even better than Medal of Honor from what I've seen.

I'm actually going to the big video game trade show next week -- and while that might sound like fun it is a ton of work -- I'll let you know what I see. Check out GameSpy.com every day next week, I'm on assignment for them and will probably do some post-show write up for Newsweek!

                    DOD

Day of Defeat is actually a MOD for the Game Halflife.

You people might now a MOD in the same family, called Counterstrike.
But one needs the Halflife CD to play it...

I don't mind Peter having started this thread in here, but it is time to close it based on the subject matter getting away from the intent of this section. By order of the FJ sheriff....
