HBT eagles - a disturbing trend

I am seeing more and more collectors/ dealers referring to green Luftwaffe HBT eagles as smock eagles. And, pricing them accordingly. Not good!

I just saw one on estand offered as a smock eagle and for $450!!! It is now on hold, so I don't know what it ultimately sold for.

Even though I have seen 2 or 3 HBT eagles on smocks, I have seen blue-gray wool eagles used dozens of times. Yet no one would consider the wool eagles to be smock eagles.

I have numerous HBT eagle variations and don't consider them to be smock eagles.

    Other thoughts on this please.....

Agree entirely Willi. Trouble is no-one can get a gruenmeliert eagle because you have them all !
Original HBT eagles are still relatively scarce and will always be worth a premium, but $450 ?

    Regards,
    Steve

I still see HBT eagles at shows. Here are a few variations.

Though I am not Willi, my opinion is negative.
