    STOCKO snap

    Hi,
A forum member as asked for advice on this snap. Is it a fake that has been added to an original smock, or is it just a war-time anomaly ?
It looks like the STOCKO snap has the PRYM mechanism inside it. I know we have the right experts here, so come on guys............what do you think ?

          Hi Gerd,
          I am a bit confused ! (again )
I have not seen the smock, except in a few photos. Do you mean that there clearly must be more than 1 STOCKO snap on this smock ? If so, I would agree. Clearly the close-up is not the one circled.
I can post more photos of the smock later, but I would like to know if the snap is original first.

          Regards,
          Steve

Dono if the other circled one is a Stocko as well. The additional pictures (we all have them Steve ) didn´t show this exactly. So this smock has at least 2 or maybe 3 different styles of snaps. I think, a mix of different snaps might be ok for a late war set-up.

But there´s a word some of the "old" collectors bet like a prayer mill.....TEXTBOOK, TEXTBOOK, TEXTBOOK.....

Is this smock textbook in that case?

I´m now a poor ex-FJ collector, a final statement should be up to the big guns in hobby.

Anyway, they can call me an idiot, but for me some s-clip Stockos are possible pre 45, but not the standard and should never be mixed up with all the fakes you´ll find on numerous items.

Back to the originality of this Stocko snap, I would like to see a side view. It looks a bit pitted on the picture..............

              Textbook.
Really, this is unusual, but this is a 100% period, original stocko snap. Fine smock!!!!!!!!!

First time I have ever seen a STOCKO snap like that on a smock, but I examined this smock very closely at the SOS. It was just purchased from a veteran's estate auction before the show.

                  Superb smock!

It will end when collector's stop paying these absurd prices. But, smocks and helmets are in great demand. If most of us pass on them when overpriced, there is always someone next in line who will pay the price.
